We travel throughout the state of California and train foster youth, caregivers, providers, social workers, probation officers, and other adults about foster youth rights, Reasonable and Prudent Parent Standard (RPPS), AB12, and other topics. We also share information about foster care resources and services.

 


Training Workshops

 

Know Your Foster Youth Rights!

Audience

Foster Youth

Length

2 hour, 3 hour, 4 hour training, or included in full-day training

In this training, participants will learn about their rights from the Foster Youth Bill of Rights, mental health rights, sexual and reproductive health rights, and education rights. Participants will learn how to identify rights violations and how to advocate for themselves when they feel that their rights have been violated. Participants will receive a resource folder containing the foster youth rights brochures, fact sheets, and other helpful resources.

This training is activity-based and encourages active participation and teamwork.

Empowering Foster Youth with Rights

Audience

Caregivers, Providers, Social Workers, Adults

Length

2 hour, 3 hour, 4 hour training, or included in full-day training

In this training, participants will learn about foster youth rights from the Foster Youth Bill of Rights, mental health rights, sexual and reproductive health rights, and education rights. Participants will learn how to identify rights violations and how to empower youth with their rights in effective and engaging ways. Participants will receive a resource folder containing the foster youth rights brochures, fact sheets, and other helpful resources.

Reasonable and Prudent Parent Standard (RPPS)

Audience

Caregivers, Providers, Social Workers, Adults

Length

2 hour, 3 hour, 4 hour training, or included in full-day training

In this training, participants will learn about normalcy, Reasonable and Prudent Parent Standard (RPPS), and the RPPS decision-making process. Participants will learn how to make empowering parenting decisions that will promote normalcy and positive growth and development in the lives of foster youth. Participants will receive a resource folder containing RPPS All County Letters, fact sheets, and other helpful resources.

This training is activity-based and encourages active participation and teamwork.

Extended Foster Care (AB12)

Audience

Foster Youth, Child Welfare Workers, Caregivers, Adults

Length

2 hour, 3 hour, 4 hour training, or included in full-day training

In this training, participants will learn about AB12, extended foster care, and non-minor dependency. Participants will learn about the goals and outcomes of AB12, eligibility requirements for extended foster care, and the resources and services non-minor dependents can access. Participants will receive a resource folder containing the foster youth rights brochures, AB12 fact sheets, and other helpful resources.​

The training is activity-based and encourages active participation and teamwork.
